The simple, striking building is surrounded by green meadows, pastures and fruit trees in Seen, near the city of Winterthur. The cantonal requirements for the location, size, orientation, roof shape, exterior appearance and interior design of the building formed a tight framework for the design of the new replacement building outside the building zone.

The living space is divided into four rooms by a central furniture wall sculpture.

In its basic structure and character, the house follows the traditional and characteristic typologies of local farmhouses. These features have been placed in a new, contemporary and independent context.

The most formally defining element of the building is the double pitch roof, which provides weather protected access to the house and creates a flowing transition from the interior to the exterior.

The entire wood structure was manufactured in elements and erected in just a few days. Only natural and sustainable materials were used for the facade and interior.

The use of spruce wood and clay plaster on the walls, ceilings and roof creates an ecological and healthy indoor climate.

On the upper floor, where the bedrooms are located, the shape of the roof ensures intimacy and security, while on the first floor the living spaces are extended to the outside thanks to generous openings.

The building is a timber construction made from local spruce, the wooden ceiling is made from glued laminated timber and the walls are built using classic stud construction.
